First annual EE Day urges Americans to “Save Energy. Save Money.”

In honor of the first annual Energy Efficiency Day, scheduled for October 5, 2016, Evergreen Consulting Group is joining thousands of organizations, companies, and individuals nationwide applauding the vital and wide-ranging contributions energy-saving programs and policies have made and continue to make in the U.S.

Research has indicated that ramping up energy efficiency could spare the country from having to build 487 large power plants over the next 14 years. Already, energy efficiency has prevented the need for 313 large plants since 1990.

“Energy efficiency helps consumers and businesses save money, creates jobs, and benefits the economy,” said Roger Spring, owner, Evergreen Consulting Group. “We see this every day in the work we do to help utilities and energy nonprofits educate their communities about the tremendous benefits to be gained by saving energy.”

Participating organizations will recognize Energy Efficiency Day by sharing success stories online and on Twitter at #EEDay2016.

An energy-efficient economy is free to thrive and innovate. Electricity use was the same in 2015 as it was in 2010 while the U.S. economy grew 11 percent over those years, demonstrating that efficiency and economic growth go hand-in-hand. Reducing the energy used by manufacturers, utilities, homes, and businesses benefits everyone—especially energy bill-payers.

“Energy efficiency remains the most efficient power resource, even exceeding renewable energy sources like wind and solar,” continued Spring. “Commercial and industrial facility owners know first-hand that investments in energy-saving solutions also improve productivity, reduce energy costs, and enhance work environments for their employees.”
